I haven't been one to explore my romantic side, partly because I don't think I'm ready for that kind of relationship yet.
However, of the few but increasing occasions where I allow my mind dwell on the kind of love my heart desires, I bring you this:
I dream of a love: pure, whole and complete Ever-growing, ever-evolving, ever deepening A love, as deep as the boundless sea As true as Calvary Love, whose nature doesn't change at its very core But continues to mature like a high-risk investment This kind yields no loss But ages like wine Finer and sweeter as the time passes
A love that transcends sight, morphing across realms into a kaleidoscope of colours A kind of rainbow, a symbol of promise Toasting to a love that heals, not destroys A love that gives, much more than it takes
My soul desires a love that strips Every layer without restraint Slowly, patiently, like a focused tease Leaving me so consumed that I don't see the walls down tumbling Until I am laid bare in His embrace
A love like a song Every high and every low note, all blending into a collective masterpiece Every lyric indicative of changing seasons but never lacking a unifying melody Our voices, the instruments Evenly matched, in an imperfectly perfect rhythm of perfect harmony
A love like a waltz Intimate, steady and full of grace One, two-three One, two-three Both of us partners in every sense Gently swaying in response to the symphonic, sensory tune The one we picked out When together, we stepped onto the dance floor of life
A love like a meal Every course to be deliberately, intentionally appreciated Some parts sweet, some parts spicy, other parts savoury But never sour Every taste speaks of balance All parts are equally an adventure, more than accommodating of our taste buds Ayanfe, ours shall be a love on the rock That can never be overturned No matter the huff or the puff
This longing deep inside of me Is for a love that LIVES One whose LIFE is evidence Evident of the One True Source of Agape Fruit-bearing, life-giving, imprint-making, salvation-inducing mirror of divinity
Complete, replete It is a miracle, this kind of love is not out of reach It thrums steady within my grip A present reminder that I'm never without Him And that no matter where I go, I won't ever elude his lifelong pursuit For I may be one But Love never leaves the one behind
So until I find this love in His physical manifestation of my own kind My soul will not be left starving Nor will she be lost, searching for what is not missing She will not crave as one who lacks Or as one who is deprived of love in full measure, instead She will find wholeness in Love's arms She will learn under His instruction All that she can of Him So that this Love that is continually intertwining Himself with the whole fibres of her soul Will serve as a wind-finder, guiding her towards the one He has known The manifestation of Agape to me - solid and in the flesh

Mo’s BTS Note
Hiya guys! I did say I would be back soon. There you have it. What did you think?
I started this poem with a simple image in mind. When I eventually decide to allow myself be swept off on a journey of love - with man now o, not my Jesus😂 what do I want it to be like? Would it be like a Formula 1 race car on the track, or the gentle rocking motion of the Lagos-Ibadan train on the railway? Would it be like baking a sweet treat: gentle, consistent and filled with sweetness? Would it be like the weather on a beautiful day or like water: free-flowing, incapable of deceit, wise and mature yet playful and silly all in one breath? Could it possibly be all these things and more?
Love is a beautiful phenomenon and it is a privilege to experience it in itself. Not as the falsehood that people often label as love but as a tender, healing wraparound garment. It is simplicity in complexity, solid in unknowns, truth in the midst of lies, nudity in the midst of coverings.
Love can easily be said to be one of the most misunderstood and misused words in the entire globe, irregardless of language, race or creed. It is abused, slapped on as an aesthetic cover for short bursts of affection even when it's evident that whatever is masquerading doesn't go beyond the surface. As a result, many are hurt, some so much so that they believe love must no longer exist. Do you fall in this category?
Love does exist. God is living proof, and that you haven’t yet got it right doesn’t cancel out its existence. As for me, I’m going to spend my days basking in the Love of God and when the time comes, ‘the one’ and I shall love each other according to God and jointly bask in Him together. Sounds like a great plan, doesn’t it? Well, you’re welcome to steal the template and make it yours ;)
The institution of marriage is a mirror of God’s relationship with the church, so doesn’t it make sense that the love shared between me and ‘the one’ looks like God too? Hence: ‘The Manifestation of Agape’.
Well that’s that. Now tell me, what feelings did this poem evoke in you? Did it make you desire romantic love anew or possibly even make you appreciate it better, that is, when done correctly? Ouu and what was your favourite line? Me I’ve got so many that choosing one almost feels partial🥺
Plus, if you’ve got a boo or potential boo, you should send this to the person. No caption o, just send and let the poem do all the talking.
Disclaimer: This advice is only for serious people sha, don’t go and chase the brother/sister ‘let’s see how it goes’ away with the intensity. Me ayam not there o🌚
